Central Technical Advisory Services Ltd (TAS) is a joint venture company, established in 2001 and owned by the six Central Region District Health Boards (DHBs) to provide support and services, undertaking:regional planning; implementing regional programmes of work; hosting regional groups and forums; and ensuring the compliance of contracted health service providers.
In 2011, TAS added a national arm - operating as a standalone business unit under the name "DHB Shared Services" (DHBSS), focusing on: facilitating the delivery of national strategies, contracts and service relationships; supporting the health sector workforce; and enabling collaboration between DHBs and others.
Today TAS provides support and services to the 20 DHBs, and works collaboratively with many other health service policy makers and providers, including the Ministry of Health. Our stakeholders also include national health agencies (such as Health Quality & Safety Commission (HSQC), the National Health Board and the National Health IT Board), and the wider health sector including primary care, pharmacy and aged residential care providers.We currently manage almost 30 national and regional work programmes on behalf of the DHBs.
TAS is governed by a Board of Directors and the TAS Board reports to the Regional Governance Group (RGG), representatives of the Central Region DHBs, and is managed by the TAS Senior Leadership Team .
